Huron Perth United U18s Journey to a Strong Second Place Finish at First on the Turf Guelph 2026

The Huron Perth United U18s kicked off their 2026 season with an impressive run at the First on the Turf tournament in Guelph. Facing tough competition and unpredictable weather, the team demonstrated resilience, skill, and teamwork to secure a well-earned second place finish. This tournament marked an important milestone for the squad, setting a strong tone for the season ahead.

Game 1 vs Waterloo United:

The opening match was a rollercoaster. Waterloo United scored early, putting pressure on the Huron Perth defense. The U18s responded with grit, and Yevhen Sarnitskyi delivered a stunning free kick from outside the 18-yard box to level the score. Unfortunately, the game was cut short before halftime due to a thunderstorm, leaving both teams tied at 1-1. Despite the abrupt ending, the team showed they could bounce back under pressure.

Match 2 vs Guelph Jr Gryphons:

The second match was a showcase of individual brilliance and team coordination. Brody Moir stole the spotlight with an amazing solo goal. He dribbled past multiple defenders and finished with precision into the bottom corner, securing a narrow but crucial 1-0 victory. This win boosted the team’s confidence and kept their hopes alive for advancing.

Match 3 vs Kitchener TFC:

The U18s closed the group stage with a strong performance against Kitchener TFC. Zander Alpaugh opened his tournament scoring account, while Yevhen Sarnitskyi and Brody Moir each added their second goals of the competition. The 3-1 win booked the team’s ticket to the semifinals and demonstrated their offensive capabilities.

Semi Finals vs Kitchener TFC:

The semifinals brought a familiar opponent. The U18s faced Kitchener TFC again, this time with everything on the line. The team rose to the occasion, winning 2-0. Owen Frank scored his first goal of the tournament, and Brody Moir continued his scoring streak with his third goal. The defense held strong, shutting down Kitchener’s attacks and securing a spot in the finals.

Finals vs Oshawa Kicks IModel:

The final match was a thrilling contest. Huron Perth United took an early lead thanks to Zander Alpaugh’s second goal of the tournament. The boys fought hard to maintain their advantage, but Oshawa Kicks IModel came back with two goals to edge out a 2-1 victory. Despite the loss, the team’s performance throughout the tournament was commendable and showed great promise for the season.


This final marks the first cup final appearance in HP United history. Congratulations to our U18 Boys on making history! Heres to many more to come!
